Another cake this week, but this time I stuck to the recipe and didn’t change it over into cupcakes (which are easier to transport to work).
This is what I’d think of as an old-fashioned birthday cake – you know the one, made from a Betty Crocker cake mix and a tub of pre-made frosting. The only change I made to the cake was to add sprinkles.
My coworkers liked the cake – it’s a solid cake, nothing fancy or unique about it. But it’s always good to have a reliable, simple cake recipe in your pocket. Larry thought it was just okay. I liked the frosting – cream cheese gives it a bit of tang and more stability than a straight buttercream (although it’s a bit on the sweet side).

Wow, your cake looks perfect. The on thing I am learning from all of the bakers this week is that sprinkles make everything awesome!
Just lovely!
Looks amazing! Wish I could figure out why my cakes don’t rise as high as everyone else’s…
I could take or leave the cake, but I thought the frosting was to die for!
Beautiful cake!
