- Sourdough bread with Sauteed Garlic Butter (Fine Cooking #43, March 2001, p. 49)
Wine: David Bruce 1999 Ranchita Canyon Sangiovese (Paso Robles, California). Tasty. We need to drink more because we still have six bottles left.

That’s the only garlic bread I make! Trader Joe’s has had some excellent whole wheat rustic bread lately. So good.
I’ve wanted to make this recipe for a long time. Now that the weather is chilly (and I’ve seen your lovely picture) I’d like to make it again. But I can’t for the life of me find hot cherry peppers. I can find mild. I’ve looked at my regular grocery store (Albertson’s) and Whole Foods. Any tips would be much appreciated.
I’ve only made this with mild peppers – in fact, I can only find them at Albertson’s. Last time I looked, I saw that they had the hot ones (I can’t remember the brand, but they’re in a tall jar). I didn’t buy the hot ones, I just decided to stick with the mild. It will be delicious either way! And if you want it spicy, you could always use spicy Italian sausage, or add some crushed red pepper to the sauce.
