Sunday dinner with Jay – I was wanting halibut for diner. Larry thought this fish sounded nice, and he was right – the coriander-pepita butter coating on the fish is interesting and different. They both loved the sweet potatoes, and those couldn’t be simpler. I repeated the salad from last night since we still had all of the ingredients plus some vinaigrette left over.
My latest obsession (there’s always a latest obsession) is ice cream. I have one of the simple ice cream makers that uses a frozen canister (Cuisinart brand), and it works fine. But I dream of owning a fancy ice cream maker with a compressor. Maybe if I make enough delicious ice cream, one will appear in my kitchen one day. Anyway, I decided to start out with something very simple. This is very similar to one of our favorite gelato flavors in Italy, fior di latte. I suppose it’s more like custard flavored, but it’s creamy and tastes like cold, fresh cream, and was fantastic with plump, ripe raspberries and blueberries.
