I’m lucky to live close enough to Omnivore Books to be able to attend events there on occasion. I was excited to attend the author appearance by Christie Matheson, who wrote the cookbook Salty Sweets. I’m a huge fan of salt paired with sweets, particularly chocolate. I picked up the cookbook, and if these cookies are any indication, I’m going to enjoy cooking out of it.

OH, that’s one of the cookbooks I have on my wish list. I heard great things about it, but so far resisted well to the urge to buy a copy… :-)
I hope you will go on cooking stuff form it, maybe I’ll cave in..
It looks really good. She brought some of her chocolate chip cookies to the talk, and those were tasty also – although similar to the NYT chocolate cookies (my go-to recipe).
She talked about one of her favorite things, vanilla ice cream topped with good olive oil and sprinkled with fleur de sel. The next day, we had just that at Pizzeria Picco in Larkspur, and it was fantastic.
I’m such a salt fiend!
I am a salt fiend too – never thought of vanilla ice cream topped with olive oil and fleur de sel… I guess I could “see” the sel, but the olive oil… WOW!
Oh I LOVE salty-sweet! YUM!
