Why haven’t I ever made monkey bread? I really don’t know, because it’s delicious. And addictive. I usually don’t eat many (if any) of my own baked goods but I couldn’t resist this stuff. It’s sweet, yeasted balls of dough, rolled in butter and cinnamon and brown sugar, then baked. It’s fantastic right out of the oven and can be made ahead.
I made it the night before I baked it. In the morning I took it out of the refrigerator to proof while I attended a few meetings via phone (I worked from home that morning, convenient!). I popped it in the oven and took it with me to work, uncovered, almost as soon as it came out. My car smelled unbelievably good.
Mine took some extra flour before the dough became silky. I just keep adding it until it looked right – it definitely wasn’t an insignificant amount, but the dough is pretty forgiving.

We loved this, at our house, also. It is addictive.
Yours looks like it will also disappear quickly.
You have so much caramel on yours which I am sure made it even more delicious. I have never made this before either and can’t understand why – it is a wonderful addictive treat.
What a perfect looking loaf! Mine came out wrinkly… strange – but oh so good! Wasn’t this just easy and “I’ll make again” type of recipe! Looks wonderful!
I can only imagine the smells inside the car-how did you make it to work without tearing into it ! I too love all the caramel over yours.
