I had mixed feelings about this week’s Baked Sunday Mornings project. Coffee ice cream? I don’t drink coffee, and even though I like the smell, it’s been so long since I’ve drank it that I don’t like the flavor anymore. Especially in desserts. But I’m always up for making ice cream – this is a fairly standard custard-based recipe (my favorite). Sugar, cream, milk, egg yolks. The coffee flavor comes from instant espresso powder and a bit of Kahlua added before churning. It’s pretty good – great texture and kind of smoky.
