It’s Cabernet Day – and that always means steak for us. We rarely eat beef, but when we do it’s from a local, sustainable producer that sells at the farmer’s market. We’ve been buying the rib eye lately, but it was only beefalo this week. Not that there’s anything wrong with that, but we went with a New York instead – and were slightly disappointed. It’s just not a great cut of meat.
I stuffed tomatoes as well, since I just have a few bites of steak. These are a great vegetarian main because they’ve got a bit of protein from couscous and yogurt. And swapping out the yogurt for soft tofu would probably work for a vegan dish. I love tomatoes like this. And the couscous is terrific on its own. Find the recipe for the tomatoes here.

Wine: Rafanelli 2001 Cabernet Sauvignon (Dry Creek Valley, California). There wasn’t any thought behind this choice, but it’s drinking really nicely. The wine racks are a little blocked off right now, so this is what I was able to reach. Plus, none of our Monte Bello is quite ready to drink yet.
