At first I thought these were going to be cookies (for some unknown reason). But after reading the recipe and description, they’re actually more like little pecan pie bites.
I’m not a big fan of pecan pie. Something about nuts and pie just doesn’t appeal to me. But this is Baked Sunday Mornings, I embrace every challenge and am more often than not pleasantly surprised.
The base of the tassies is a buttery cream cheese pastry crust that’s formed in mini-muffin pans. I took no chances and sprayed the pans with some Pam before adding the dough – I had visions of trying to scrape all 40 of them out of the little cups.
The filling is simple, a basic egg and brown sugar custard with chopped toasted pecans. There wasn’t anything difficult about mixing the filling and then adding toasted pecans plus the sugar filling on top of the muffin cups. They came out pretty cute, and I’m glad I used a bit of Pam – the sugar is like glue and I surely would have had issues getting some of them out. Larry said he likes these. I had a bite of one, and thought it was okay, but not quite my thing.

They look so cute and I love your platter! I was concerned about them sticking without prepping the pan, but they came out just fine. I knew these were pies, but was looking for the recipe in the cookie section at first!
also not my favorite… i prefer a high ratio of filling to crust, but i like your presentation! very cute!
I didn’t spray my (nonstick) muffin pans and they came out without a problem. I’m with you that nut pies aren’t my thing, but your tassies are very cute!
I’ve never thought of spraying the pans & I always end up with tester-tasters when I try to dig them out with a knife – good idea! I like your tray, too! My plate is from Cost Plus and has a peacock in the middle. They have the whole set, but I just bought these. I would be great if Trevor joined this group, too!
Too bad you didn’t especially like these – they’re my brother’s favorite, so I make them every Christmas.
Thanks for the info on the plate!
I like how your sugar topping crackled – very nice! These are one of those treats that people either like or don’t like. It was a fun recipe to make and I’m glad that it was an easy one.

Nice photo. I wondered about spraying with Pam…I was a little nervous not to, but mine came out OK. I think it depends on the pan…some really like to stick. And, I enjoyed your post thought about how I sometimes wonder how a recipe should look when finished…I love photos with every recipe, and with this no-photo recipe, there was a bit of guess work.
Hi, Sheri! I’ve awarded you the “Inspirational Blog” award. Please stop by my blog to “pick it up” and share it: http://www.createamazingmeals.com/2012/01/inspirational-blog-award.html
Have a great weekend!
Popping over from Susan’s blog to say hello! I haven’t made pecan tassies in ages….like mini pecan pies….mmmmmmmm. Yours look great!
Hi Liz – thanks!
And thanks Susan!
Mhmm these little pecan bites look delicious. I remember one time I decided to make brownies in cupcake tins and we forgot to grease the tins. After we’d filled a couple cups, we remembered and then we used paper liners. Of course, we ended up overbaking the brownies and they were stuck to the paper liners… Glad you didn’t have any trouble with the whole sticking thing.
