It might seem like I slacked off for this month’s Bake Together, but really it’s just that Abby’s version of the recipe seemed perfect as-is. I find it hard to improve on a berry pie, especially when the markets are bursting at the seams with fresh fruit.
I’m not even going to post the recipe here, since Abby has it up already – I made one tiny change, and that was to use olallieberries instead of raspberries. Technically, it’s only a partial change – olallieberries are part blackberry and part raspberry.
I like these pies because they’re small and topped with a generous amount of a buttery crumble. My crust ended up a little too thin in places, so a few of them were messy. Next time, I’ll take more care.
